The blogoshpere is rapidly changing - and blogs are becoming more complicated , with more authors and more readers. Wordpress themes had to evlove for a multi author platform and the magazine style wordpress theme was the solution. They allow more information to be displayed on the home page of the blog and allow for easier browsing by your readership. You will be able to highlight key stories easier and get what really matters in front of your readers eyes.
Many bloggers are changing to the magazine style wordpresss theme and its popularity is on the rise - so i thought i would post a collection of the best Free magazine sytle wordpress themes on the net.

Nice collection! We were just talking about magazine themes at work today, so it was great to find your list via Problogger. With so many WordPress themes out there now, it’s really handy to have people collecting them into topics and categories.
On that topic - do you know of anyone who has constructed a list of green/eco themes? I’ll be looking to revamp my blog soon, and am collecting ideas!

No problem, if this is your first plunge into Wordpress i might consider going with a less complicated theme to start then move into a magazine style theme. So of the back ends can get complicated to run and setup.
Yeah some extra infromation would have been good - i didn’t know what to put and what not to put. I ended up deciding to put very little infromation on my site so you had to go check out the original source of the themes.
I have seen a list off green or eco themes - that just might be the next list i create.
WOW! It’s a fantastic collection of magazine style wordpress themes.There are so many themes available that it is confusing to which one to select but you have make the work easy by sharing with us the few selected fantastic wordpress themes
These are great examples of Magazine style themes…We do a lot of work with businesses that are using their wordpress platform as a CMS. Maybe you could do another post with the best business themes too! This is a good reference for the magazine themes though. Good Job!
IT is Part of the Probloger.net 31 day become a better blogger challenge and making a list was my assignment for today. The list turned out well and i got lots of support for it - so you can expect a few more lists like this popping up in the next couple weeks.

I find the biggest problem with free themes is that all of the good ones have already had thousands of downloads, therefore giving your blog no uniqueness and infact making it look cheap
Yes but you can modify a theme to suit your needs and making it look more custom and unique.

Also here re #31DBBB and via Twitter. Classic list post, and really nicely laid out. I guess my only criticism, and I think someone else said the same, was that I’d like some information, even if just your opinion on each theme.
Having said that, fantastic to get over 1700 visitors, well done! A lot of my readers use Wordpress (I don’t) so I’ll make sure to include and link to this post in an upcoming post of my own.
I’ve been looking for a really boring humdrum theme for a media site. And by boring and humdrum I truly mean it, just can’t seem to get my hands on one….but I like several of these and may try them instead.
You could also try a Google search for minimalistic Wordpress theme and that might get you what you are looking for.

Well it looks like you’ve gotten a lot of traffic from the Day #3 assignment…congrats. Although I am tempted to move over to WordPress just for the 3-column layout, I am with Blogger. Any chance you might know of some good Blogger layouts in magazine style?

Very good point. I personally use a free theme that I made certain changes to, including completely revamping the comment area. I think it’s a great way of getting a cheap theme that’s still personal to you.
Nice list! I personally have chosen The Morning After Theme: simple, looks great ans easy to install. ^^;
