Blog Promotion - Get involved in the community.

20 October 2009 13 Comments

In order to have a successful blog you will need to write multiple posts a week. The most successful blogs on the internet write around 20 articles a day. Once you have fresh quality content you can start to promote it.

Our main goal when blogging is to increase the amount of visitors reading out content, clicking on referral links, advertisements or buying services or products from your blog.

Social Book marking can be a great way to promote your blog. Sites such as Stumbleupon and Digg are great places to get your article in front of thousands of users. In order to be successful on social book marking site you need to get involved in the community and olny promote quality content.

I would also get active in any communities withing my niche - such as blogs and forums. People in these communities will be more likely to be interested in your site. If you post comments on some one else’s blog they will generally come and post on your blog. Just like the real world it isn’t what you know it is who you know. Build solid relationships with other authoritative people/sites in your niche and you will be successful.

Writing guest posts on other successful blogs will get you blog extra exposure that you wouldn’t normally get. If money is of no concern you can get your site reviewed by top sites in your niche or buy advertising on them. Linking to otherĀ  bloggers canĀ  flatter them and will make them more likely to link back to you.

Creating relationships and getting our blogs in front of as many eyes as possible is our goal - does any one else have any ways to get more promotion or promote their blog?

20 articles a day?? Wow. I obviously don’t follow the right blogs.

The blogs i am referring to are multi-author blogs - when you see them you might not even think of them as a blog. It is hard for blogger to even write 1 article a day. Bloggers will have more success if they team up with a group of bloggers. 10 people writing articles and promoting ones site will have more success.

Well, you have the option to hire multiple writers for the blog, or just get article writers so you don’t need to give money away at the end :D

I don’t think writing 20+ posts really increases the quality of your site. If you write 1 fantastic article a day, you can do just as well.

It wont increase the quality of the site but it will increase the amount of content on your site and the amount of ways users will find your site. Having lots of quality content is the most important thing. Blogs that write 1 article a day can be semi-successful. All i am trying to say is that 10 bloggers working together writing about the same thing will have more success than 1 blogger competing with them.

20 articles a day will dry up my brain (lol), but its better to be ready than to wait in vain for more topics. And yes, Using social bookmarking sites and social networking sites are the best way to attract traffic to our blogs.

    Thanks for this post.

The blogs that write 20 articles a day have teams of writers - no individual blogger writes that much.

    I believe in a “two-tier model”.

At the core tier I have a niche blog dedicated to lighting (my business is light fixture eShop). This blog is part of my eShop. At the outside tier I run multiple blogs within social networks. I use these blogs to built personal relations with other people who are active in these social networks and attract them to visit my core blog.

I takes much longer to product post to my core blog. My goal is to update it twice a week. The ‘peripheral’ blogs are much shorter and easier to write.

    My 2 cents,
    Sty

The two tier model can work - if you are posting the articles for promotion only and not seo you could post the same articles on different sites.

The blogs that post 20 times a day are blogs that are in the business of news/blogging - they are not using their blog as a promotional tool for their main business.

I am not sure this is so different. If your main business is blogging, you probably like to keep attracting NEW readers. Isn’t it? So, you can run few ‘meta-blogs’ telling about your experience as a pro-blogger, etc. Publishing these meta-blogs within “forums” with potential readers, is a way to promote your main blog.

    Cheers,
    Sty
