When starting your online business your going to be losing lots of cash. You will have design,Development, web hosting, domain names, advertising and search engine optimization. If you lots of time you can get away with doing all these tasks your self. Many online entrepreneurs are a jack of as many trades as possible.
1) Web Design
Instead of creating custom graphics and templates you should use a template. If you want a more customized theme you can get a designer to modify and existing theme for less than the cost of creating a theme from scratch.
2) Web Hosting
Instead of purchasing hosting you can take advantage of free hosting. Although i would recommend against this because you will want as much control over your site as possible. Free hosting may also require you to show advertising for your hosting provider. You can get hosting for a few $ a month and it is worth it.
3) Domain Name
A domain name is one of the most important parts of your website and should be seriously considered before registering it. Domains can be as cheap as 99 cents to $1000. You will want to get a brand able domain name and that has a Keyword in the url.
4) Advertising
There are many free ways to advertise your website such as Symbiotic ad networks where your add gets shown as many times as you show ads. There is a great article on called Free advertising for your web site
You can also take advantage of free coupons from the major add networks a few coupons are located at Free pay per click Advertising.
You can also get free exposure by giving interviews to reporters and a great site for getting in touch with reporters is HARO (I have written a great post about it called How to get and give new News)
5) Search Engine Optimization
You do not need to higher an expensive Search Engine Optimization firm that can costs hundreds to thousands of dollars a month. There are many great resources site and forums you can learn from.
6) Web Development
When Developing a new website you should seriously consider using as much open source software as possible and buying ready made applications. Why pay someone to code a new template from scratch? It just doesn’t make sense.
Save your Money
Remember save your money and olny spend your money on things that you absolutely need. Keep A monthly Budget and stick ot it. IF you save $1000 you dont need to make an extra $1000 it just makes sense.
A great article! Saving money is a MUST for businesses. Turnover is vanity PROFIT is Sanity! Profit is the difference between turnover and the cost of running a business. If you can reduce costs whilst maintaining turnover it is of real value.

I mostly agree with you, except for the part about hosting. I’m not a fan of a lot of free hosting services. They are often slow, unreliable and ad unwanted advertising to your site. In give the impression of being a professional in your field, your site must look professional as well.
About web development… This is so true. I never understood why companies invest millions in custom content management aps when they could just buy one for A LOT less. In some cases it’s almost a ‘make work project’ - we’re not busy, so lets build something.
I don’t really agree with 6. Especially using somebody elses work for your potential business. If a business is to go on the web, then they should consider bespoke web design, as everything is to their exact standards, and web design companies also propose online marketing schemes which help the business grow even further
I am not agree with your 5 point for site SEO you have to be expert then you can do business with your site.
This was a tip for people trying to start business online. Not trying to expand a traditional business online. Once the new business creates some income - it is then time to invest some money in web design.
You don’t need to be an expert SEO in order to get alright rankings with a website. A few hours of reading or consulting will get you on the right track.
Yes i was just letting everyone know you can get free hosting and you could potentially start an online business with no capital investment.
